Twitter For You tab is not so for you if you are not a Blue subscriber

Elon Musk said that Twitter for You tab will only be available for Twitter Blue subscribers and social media users are furious!

Twitter users will now require a “verified account” in order to receive recommendations on the social media platform’s For You page, according to a tweet from CEO Elon Musk. This change, which takes effect from April 15th, implies that only government entities, companies, or Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to appear on the feeds of people who do not follow them.

Musk claims that this measure is essential to prevent advanced AI bot swarms from taking over. Additionally, Musk states that verified users will be the only ones allowed to vote in Twitter polls.

Below, you may check out Elon‘s tweet on Twitter for You tab and polls being only available to Twitter Blue subscribers.

However, it is critical to approach Musk’s announcement with skepticism since his tweets have not always resulted in enforced policy or new features. For example, he pledged in February that the firm would begin sharing ad revenue with Blue subscribers, but this has yet to happen. In the same month, he also vowed to make the company’s algorithm open-source by March 5th, which did not happen.

Musk has made similar promises in the past, such as allowing only Blue subscribers to vote in policy polls.

Twitter users express concerns over Twitter For You Tab changes

Since Elon Musk took control of Twitter, the micro-blogging platform has undergone a series of unprecedented changes, capturing people’s attention with the addition of new features and tweaks. Musk’s latest announcement on April 15th that only Blue-certified users or subscribers will be recommended on the Twitter For You tab aims to address the bot issue.

Non-Blue subscribers will be unable to vote in polls on Twitter, which is a significant blow to users who have not yet subscribed to Twitter Blue. Some Twitter users are concerned that Musk’s approach to the bot issue is misguided and suggest using improved AI to address the issue. Others suggest a verification system using IDs rather than payment.

Twitter For You tab has been receiving criticism for some time now, and this new announcement is another controversial change that is receiving criticism. Twitter has yet to comment on the matter of the Twitter For You tab only recommending tweets from verified users.

Twitter user Andrea Bailey said:

This is BS. Some of my favorite accounts to follow aren’t verified. FOR YOU will become mostly useless, & my unverified tweets will be seen even less. I’ve loved Twitter for almost 15 years. Elon always HAS to be the center. The way he’s inserted his greedy self has destroyed it.

It remains to be seen whether the Twitter team will take users’ feedback into account and act accordingly. We will keep track of any further developments and convey you the news about the topic.
