Threads is a new social media app developed by Instagram which in turn is owned by Meta. It allows you to post threads, reply to others, and follow profiles you’re interested in, just like Twitter. If you’re new to Threads and wondering how you can find and follow your Instagram friends on it, you have come to the right place. Meta has made it easy to find and follow your Instagram friends on Threads.
Follow Instagram Friends While Setting Up Threads
Threads adopts Instagram’s account system which means that not only can you claim the same username that you own on Instagram, you can also follow all your Instagram accounts with one tap.
During the initial setup of the Threads account, you will see a list of all Instagram accounts you follow provided you are using the same details. From there, you can either selectively follow someone or simply tap on the Follow all button to quickly follow everybody at once.
Note: If your Instagram friends haven’t joined Threads yet, the following requests will be shown as pending until they join.
Follow Instagram Friends on Threads From Settings
If you forgot to follow your Instagram friends during the setup process or happened to miss any, don’t worry! You can still follow your Instagram friends, or anyone for that matter, from the settings.
1. Open Threads and go to your Profile in the bottom right corner and then tap on the Hamburger Menu icon in the top right corner.
2. After that, tap on Follow and invite friends settings and select the Follow accounts from Instagram option.
From here, you can easily follow your Instagram friends on Threads. You can even use the Seach Bar to quickly find and connect with your friends.
Pro Tip: Any accounts you’ve blocked on Instagram are automatically blocked on Threads too.
Search Your Instagram Friends on Threads
The above methods can help you connect with Instagram accounts you already follow. But what if you want to discover new accounts or reconnect with profiles you used to follow?
For that, simply go to the Search page and tap on the Search Bar to find your Instagram friend. Once found, tap the Follow button next to the profile name.
Note: If your Instagram friends haven’t joined Threads yet, you won’t find them in the search results.
If you’re unable to find your Instagram friends on Threads, here’s what you can do:
1. Open Instagram and note down your friend’s username.
2. Then go back to the Threads app and enter the same username in the Search Bar to find your Instagram friend.
Note: The name and username of Threads will remain the same as on Instagram.
If none of the above methods worked for you, try asking your Instagram friend to share his/her Threads profile.
You can then open the link, and it will redirect you to your friend’s Threads profile.
It is equally easy to share Instagram profile links. In fact, you can also create QR codes for profiles, reels, and posts and use them creatively across the web.
Unfollow Your Instagram Friends on Threads
If you accidentally followed someone on Threads, there’s no need to worry. Unfollowing someone is simple and straightforward on Threads.
1. Go to your Profile Page and tap on Followers.
2. Go to the Following tab and then hit the Following button next to the user that you want to unfollow. You can also search for user profiles.
Tip: Learn how to unfollow everyone on Instagram at once.
Threads Is Instagram for Text
Threads is a new platform and not every one of your Instagram friends will be interested in joining it. After all, it is quite similar to what Twitter does. However, you can still find many of your favorite celebrities, Instagram influencers, athletes, YouTubers, etc. here.
By the way, did you know what happens when you mute someone on Instagram? You will be surprised.
